What do you do at Genflow?

I’m a Social Media Executive in the Marketing Team at Genflow, creating content for Genflow across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube, as well as writing for our blog and and our weekly newsletter.

What did you do prior to Genflow?
Prior to Genflow, I worked in social media and e-commerce for a small fashion brand in Manchester, learning all the aspects of what goes into running an online business.

A social media trend everyone needs to jump on board ASAP?
Cool Reel edits! Fashion and lifestyle content on IG can get pretty repetitive, so mix it up with some trending edits. My personal fav at the moment is this walking effect👇

The highlight of your time at Genflow so far?
My highlight at Genflow so far has definitely been having the freedom to be creative and create new forms of content for our socials, and then seeing it perform well. There’s no better feeling than working hard on something and then actually seeing the reward.

Three skills someone needs to work in the social media industry?
1. Video editing! In 2022, every social media platform is pushing short-form video content, so if you can level up your video editing skills, you’ll be able to set yourself apart from others and become invaluable in your role.

2. A social media obsession. You’ve got to immerse yourself in social media and online culture to truly understand why certain content works and why some doesn’t. Plus, being on the pulse of social media trends and pop culture news is key to creating content that will reach new audiences.

3. Patience. Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to social media. A viral post is useless unless your content is already consistent and high quality enough to convert those viral views into followers that are actually going to stick around, so be patient when trying to grow your following, it rarely happens overnight.

Who is your favourite creator right now?
I’m currently obsessed with @valerie_sanders. Her apartment and interior design style is everything!
