What do you do at Genflow?

I’m the Social Media Lead, I head up the team that manages socials for our creator brands.

What were you doing prior to Genflow?

I was Social Media Manager at a health & wellness company and for a well-known tech brand (hint: Walkmans, if you’re old enough to remember them!) Before that, I was living and working in Dubai, agency-side, handling the socials for clients from luxury beauty to coffee and malls!

A social media trend you’re loving at the moment?

Reels are quickly becoming everyone’s content type of choice. I love seeing fitness and wellness journeys, and transformations documented in a really organic way. These types of reels replace that old social media pressure to be perfect in an instant, and instead show the hard work and consistency you have to put in to achieve goals, making them feel more attainable for literally everyone!

The highlight of your time at Genflow so far?
Presenting to the company at our Monthly Genflow Meeting, otherwise known as Genflow Day. I was so nervous, so I’m glad I had to do it. I got to highlight some of the brilliant work my team has done and sing their praises (and shamelessly plug their Insta handles!) The people you work with can have such an impact on your passion and motivation, so I’m extremely lucky to be surrounded and supported by badass experts.

Catch more on our monthly Genflow Day, in our CEO, Shan Hanif's vlog.👇

Advice for someone who wants to work in the social media industry?
You can get stuck in the habit of looking at content from a business perspective and you then run the risk of making posts that just tick boxes. I would advise anyone creating social media content to look at the work you create through the eyes of an audience member and ask yourself what you would feel if you saw that on your feed, and then explore how can you make it more exciting or relatable.

Your fav creator right now?
@shxtsngigs - the name is enough to make me giggle. If you’re ever feeling down, just have a little perusal of their page and I guarantee you’ll end up snort laughing. @SallySneakers is also brilliant, she managed to carve out an insane following and was a pioneer in the sneaker space for women, without ever showing her face (until now!)
