A Beginner’s Guide to Becoming a Full-Time Creator

The creator economy is currently worth $104.2 billion and is continuing to grow. There is no better time than now to become a creator and make money from it.

Today we’re taking it back to basics with the key (beginner-friendly) steps you need to take to become a successful creator 2023.

1. Find your niche

The first step you need to do is defining your niche. Whether it’s food, fashion, fitness or something more unique, having a niche will make it a lot easier for users to find your content. Plus, you're more likely to attract the right brands to work with you.

2. Optimize your profile

Optimize your profile for discoverability by including keywords relevant to your niche in your name and bio, and links in your bio to your other social channels. Also make sure to keep your highlights and pinned posts updated to best represent your current content and show off your best content to attract more followers.

3. Create quality content

From photography, to video editing, to dancing, to talking on camera, spend time improving your skills to boost the quality of your content. Make sure that your content is always providing value to your audience, whether it's entertainment, inspirational, or educational.

4. Engage with your audience

Continue to build your audience by connecting and engaging with your followers. Create a sense of community by replying to comments and DMs, hosting Q&As and live streams, and encouraging conversation.

5. Boost your discoverability

There’s no point creating quality content if no one sees it, so boost your reach by including keywords in your captions, using relevant hashtags to your niche, taking part in trends, using trending audios, and collaborating with other creators.

6. Monetize your audience

Once you've built a following, the next step to making social media your full-time job is by monetizing your content. In 2023 there are so many different ways to monetize, including joining an ad revenue-sharing program such as YouTube Adsense, partnering with brands for sponsorships, selling NFTs on Instagram, enabling subscriptions on Instagram and Twitter, earning "gifts" on live streams on YouTube and Instagram, joining a creator fund such as on TikTok, or even starting your own brand.
